Abstract
1,073,898. Colour television tubes. ZENITH RADIO CORPORATION. Sept. 27, 1965 [Oct. 2, 1964], No. 41071/65. Heading H1D. The " blue lateral " convergence magnet of a three-gun shadow-mask colour television tube has a central magnet, or magnetized central part 48, Fig. 5, of a ferrite rod 41, for shifting the blue beam and outer magnets or ferrite parts 49, 50 magnetized with different, or preferably opposite, orientations for neutralizing or cancelling out the effects on the red and green beams. The ferrite rod is rotatable in a bracket having polepiece legs embracing the tube neck. The arrangement may be used in conjunction with internal polepieces of the tube constituted by straps of magnetic material supporting electrodes of the electron gun. In another arrangement, Fig. 6 (not shown), the ferrite rod comprises five parts magnetized alternately in opposite directions, the rod being mounted in a bracket of non-magnetic material and the arrangement preferably being used in a system devoid of external or internal polepieces. Electromagnets may be used instead of permanent magnets and the tube also has dynamic convergence and static radial convergence systems of known type.
