Abstract

1339966 Cycles AMERICAN CHAIN & CABLE CO Inc 19 April 1971 [13 May 1970] 25332/71 Heading B7E [Also in Divisions E2 and F2] A cable control fastening device comprises a housing 4 into one end of which a cable 1 extends, a control handle 7 connected to the cable by a coupling rod 6 extending through the other end of the housing, a slot 8 in the housing having a longitudinal section 9 and a lateral section 10, a pin 11 extending from the coupling rod and through the slot and a spring 12 having one end connected to the pin and its other end to the housing, the spring urging the pin along the slot and into the lateral section 10. The cable comprises an inner movable element 2 and an outer flexible conduit 3 connected to the housing 4. The inner element 2 has a coupling member 3<SP>1</SP> fixed to the free end for connection to a bonnet release mechanism of an automobile and the housing 4 is mounted in a dash panel 5. A bonnet latch is released by first rotating the handle and then pulling against the force of the spring.
