Abstract

1400432 Bowden mechanisms BOWDEN CONTROLS Ltd 29 Aug 1972 [30 July 1971] 36052/71 Heading F2K In a Bowden mechanism the guide conduit 1 for the movable wire 8 is attached to a mounting panel 11 by a member 2 affixed to its end which has a portion 3 of reduced diameter and provided with serrations, which portion 3 is pushed into a rubber grommet 9 having a spigot portion 13 inserted in a hole 12 of the panel 11, the insertion of the portion 3 into the grommet expanding the spigot 13 behind the panel to secure the grommet 9 to it. The serrations on the portion 3 of the member 2 are formed as frustoconical cones 5 as shown, so that the resilient rubber of the grommet will hold the portion 3 within it, and so secure the conduit 1 to the panel. The bore of the grommet may be of smaller diameter at the end 14 of the spigot, to increase the deformation caused by member 2 (Fig. 3, not shown).
