Abstract

1337411 Chain gearing; driving endless-chain conveyers CAVAMATIC Ltd 19 April 1971 [3 April 1970] 16043/70 Heading F2Q [Also in Division B8] A driving mechanism for a conveyer chain 1 comprises an endless roller chain 24 having a number of claw units 27 (Fig. 4) pivotally carried thereby for engaging and driving the links 4 of the conveyer chain 1 which is arranged below the lower run of the endless chain 24 of the driving unit, the endless chain 24 being driven from an electric motor 15 via a gear-box 16 and sprocket 21, an idler sprocket 22 being movably positioned for correctly adjusting the chain tension of the endless driving chain 24. The conveyer chain 1 is formed from figure "8" shaped strip links 4, 4a each of which carries a pair of rollers 5 alternately arranged at rightangles to bear on the sides and top and bottom of an enclosing conveyer chain casing tubular track 2, the alternate links 4a having loadcarrying stirrups 6 suspended therefrom and adapted to travel along a longitudinal slot 7 in the bottom of the track.
