Abstract

1411940 Rope railways TRANSAMATIC Ltd 9 Oct 1972 [14 July 1971] 32935/71 Heading B7L In a conveyer for moving platens, as 20, including a pair of endless chains 13 (only one shown) disposed in spaced parallel side by side relationship and having upper and lower runs between driven sprocket wheels (not shown), each platen 20 has at each side a channel member 21 having upper and lower flanges 22, 23 respectively which engage with lateral projections on the chains 13, in the form of rollers 19 or further chains 18 disposed alongside the chains 13, the rollers 19 engaging with the flanges 22 on the upper run and with the flanges 23 on the lower run to drive the platens, and also to guide the movement of the platens on transfer between the upper and lower runs. The chains 13 are supported on rollers 14 running on a track 11 along the upper run and by rollers 17 carried by supports 16 secured to rods 15 interconnecting the chains 13, the rollers 17 running on a track 12 on the lower run. The distance between the flanges 22, 23 on the members 21 is sufficient to allow movement with the chains around the driving sprockets at the ends of the upper and lower runs. The flanges of the channels may have depressions in which to locate the rollers 19 to assist in driving the platens, and stop means may be provided on the conveyer to halt movement of the platens whilst the chains continue to move.
