Abstract

1290463 Endless conveyers MAGNUSON ENGS Inc 1 June 1971 [15 June 1970] 18286/71 Heading B8A A conveyer for feeding potatoes beneath an infra-red unit 28 comprises rollers 22 supported between endless chains 20, the rollers, during a portion of their return idle run, passing adjacent a cleaning device comprising four radial blades 36. The blades are mounted on a vertical shaft 39 driven by a motor 49. During their run past the blades 36 the rollers 22 are caused to rotate by a sprocket 26 on each roller engaging a fixed chain 25. Both runs of the endless chains 20 are supported on tracks 23. In a modification, Fig. 4, a cleaning reel 67 has blades 68 which pass closely beneath conveyer rollers 22a which rotate while following an arcuate path above the reel 67. Snubbing sprockets 63 aid in guiding the chains which support the rollers 22a.
