Abstract

1334787 Friction gearing GALAFIT Snc 8 Oct 1971 [15 Oct 1970] 46873/71 Heading F2Q [Also in Division G2] A device for reducing tension in photographic film processing apparatus (see Division G2) comprises flanged spools 14 supported so as to be spaced from the film driving rollers 36 by lugs 33 attached to arms 34 which are fastened to a tie-bar (not shown). When the tension in a film passing over the spools is too high, the spool bore 38 is pressed into contact with roller 36 so that the spool may be driven to facilitate motion of the film. Alternatively (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown) the spool 14 is supported by a pair of spindles (39) passing through the bore 38. The spool surface is of a rubber of high frictional coefficient and its clearance from the roller is adjustable. A plurality of spools 14 is mounted on two shafts at points where the film enters and leaves each processing tank (Fig. 2, not shown).
