Abstract
1328273 Weft selectors OFFICINE GALILEO SpA 11 Sept 1970 [20 Sept 1969] 43503/ 70 Heading D1E A weft selector in a shuttleless loom in which hairpins of weft are inserted with their legs in non-adjacent sheds has a selector device on both sides of the loom, and weft is inserted alternately from opposite sides of the loom by rapiers 66D which transfer a loop of weft from a forked to a hook portion of each of them at the middle of the shed. Each selector device 36 has corresponding eyelets 42-48 and grippers 22-28 in horizontally slidalble arms mounted in a vertically movable box 30 controlled from a dobby pattern mechanism 54 so that the selected weft is presented to a sickle shaped arm 8 which lowers it into the path of the rapier 66D. As the first leg of each hairpin is inserted, the corresponding gripper 22-28 releases the weft end as the weft loop is transferred at the middle of the shed Fig. 4. On insertion of the next leg of the same hairpin, the gripper moves to grip the weft as the loop is transferred, and the weft is simultaneously cut between the gripper and the selvedge, Fig. 10.
