Abstract

1326535 Fusible cut-outs ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO Ltd 18 Sept 1970 [23 Sept 1969] 46794/69 Heading H2G An h.r.c. fuse element comprises a fusible strip having spaced apart along its length a series of reduced cross-section portions 1, 2, the lengths of these portions falling into at least two categories. The shorter length portions 2 are arranged to control the short circuit characteristics of the fuse and the longer portions 1 are arranged to provide predetermined overcurrent characteristics. The reduced cross-sections may be formed by making transverse grooves, apertures or notches in a strip of silver 0À0025 inches thick and 0À1 inches wide. A fuse may comprise a number of such elements in parallel. The overourrent notches may be between 4 and 12 times longer than the short-circuit notches.
