Abstract

1326304 Low-lift trucks AIR PREHEATER CO Inc 7 Sept 1971 [8 Sept 1970] 41712/71 Heading B8H [Also in Division B7] A load handling platform 12 has two sets of wheels or rollers 14, 16 arranged at right angles to each other, means for driving each set of wheels 14, 16 and means for raising one or other of the sets of wheels 14, 16 out of contact with the ground so that the platform 12 remains at a constant level and can move either in a longitudinal or transverse direction. The wheels 14, 16 are mounted in bearings 18 in brackets 22 which can be raised by hydraulic cylinders 24. Pressurized hydraulic fluid is supplied from a pump 34 driven by motor 36 through a distributor valve 28 to either line 32 or 26 depending on which set of wheels is to be raised. Valve 28 also directs fluid to either motor 38 or motor 46, the motors 38, 46 driving the wheels 16, 14 respectively by drive belts 42 and flexible shafts 44. The valve 28 can also direct fluid to cylinders 54 to raise load carrying supports 52 on the platform 12.
