Abstract

1322570 Carburetter COLT INDUSTRIES OPERATING CORP 25 Nov 1970 56058/70 Heading F1B In a carburetter, fuel can flow from a float chamber 42 to a main fuel discharge nozzle 30 by way of a first metering restriction 24 and additional fuel can flow from chamber 42 to nozzle 30 by way of supply conduit 86, an adjustable metering restriction formed between valve seat 80 and a contoured valve portion 90 of a valve member 60 and via conduits 78, 74 and 76, the valve member 60 being adjustable externally of the carburetter so that it can be determined by external inspection whether the carburetter is adjusted for street use or competition use. A calibrated passage 48 may be provided to bleed air into fuel passage 28 to partly mix the fuel with air before it reaches nozzle 30. The invention may be employed in carburetters having staged primary and secondary induction passages and carburetters having a plurality of induction passages, in the latter case there being preferably an equal number of auxiliary adjustable metering restrictions. Preferably a pointer-like indicator 96 is employed as a visual check on whether the valve member 60 is sufficiently open to supply a predetermined additional flow of fuel.
