Abstract

1321482 Rotary positive-displacement machines ATLAS COPCO AB 18 June 1970 [18 June 1969] 29749/70 Heading F1F A compressor, or motor, has parallel bores 5, 6 containing co-operating single-toothed main and gate rotors 7, 8 and communicating with inlet and outlet passages 18, 21 through a port comprising a radial portion 19 and two axial portions 20 and two axial ports 22, respectively, the latter being controlled by a hub portion 35 of the gate rotor. The rotors are coupled synchronously by gears, Figs. 1 and 3 (not shown), and rendered hollow such that they are dynamically balanced and have similar masses. Portions 39, 40 and tooth flank 37 of the gate rotor are generated by the main rotor tooth-flank and tip 27, 28, 29. A recess 31 is generated roughly by the gate-rotor tooth-portion and flank 41, 42. The tips of the teeth may be rounded, Fig.7 (not shown). Each of the ports 22 has an edge 53 following a portion of the path of the tooth tip 29.
