Abstract

1317752 Stud and socket fastenings AMHERD AG and J H J SEEGER 29 July 1970 [29 July 1969] 36793/70 Heading E2B A device for connecting two structural members 1, 2, e.g. plates, comprises a stud 4 having a shaft 6 and a portion 10 adapted to abut against one of the members 1 or to be secured thereto, and a retaining element 3 adapted to be inserted in an aperture in the other member 2. The element 3 includes spring legs 15 adapted to engage an abutment on the shaft 6 in one relative rotational position and to be disengaged therefrom in another relative rotational position of the stud and retaining means, and securing means having first and second gripping components for engaging opposite sides of the member 2. The first gripping components 14 are resiliently deformable in a direction substantially co-planar with the opposite sides of the member 2 and the second gripping components are resiliently deformable in a direction substantially perpendicular to the opposite sides of the member 2 and are disposed intermediate between the components 14 and legs 15. As shown, the stud has thereon a rubber ring 11 bearing against a collar 9, and the element 3 is formed with U or V-shaped tongues 14 over which or in the vicinity thereof may be disposed a metallic or rubber spacer ring and which are passed through the aperture 13. In modifications (a) the element 3, (Fig. 4), comprises two parts (3a, 3b) welded together or pivotally connected by a hollow rivet (20), the part (3a) having integral U-shaped spring portions (18), or alternatively the portions 18 are integral with the part (3b), and (b) the element consists of parts (3a, 3b) and an intermediate part having lateral curved spring limbs which abut against the undersurface of the plate 2, the three parts being secured together by rivets.
