Abstract

1315991 Conveyor systems GEO W KING Ltd 24 May 1971 [22 May 1970] 25018/70 Heading B7L A power & free conveyor comprises a trolley track 12 carrying trolleys 10 drivable in one direction by a driven chain 13, supported by trolleys 14 on a track 16 above the track 12, and having pusher dogs 17 engageable on driving abutments 18 capable of depression, into the trolley, to an inoperative position; a stop mechanism, on a downwardly inclined portion of track, with a first member or stop arm 20 maintained in a normally occupied operative position extending above the track 12 by a spring 20a where it is capable of moving a driving abutment 18 of a trolley to its inoperative position, the stop arm being moved to an inoperative position, out of the way of the abutments 18, by a pneumatic piston and cylinder 22 actuated on receipt of a signal from a point on the track forwardly of the stop mechanism; and a second, or stop, member 25 which normally occupies a position extending below the track 12, as shown in full lines in Fig. 3, to restrain the movement of a trolley on the track in the said direction, and is controllably movable, on receipt of a signal as before, by an air piston cylinder device 33 to an inoperative position, shown in dotted lines, such that the previously detained trolley is allowed to move smoothly from the stop mechanism. Retainer abutments 19 are also provided on the trolleys to prevent them travelling faster down the incline than the pusher dogs on the chain, these abutments are linked, in a manner disclosed in Specification No. 1,278,958, to the abutments 18 such that when these latter are depressed the abutments 19 are also depressed into the trolley. The pneumatic control circuit for the device 33 is described with reference to Fig. 5 (not shown).
