1456636 Conveyer systems GEO W KING Ltd 11 April 1974 [16 Feb 1973] 53050/72 Heading B7L In a power and free conveyer system having a main track M along which extends a chain CM with pushers 4 to propel carriers (each including a forward trolley (not shown) and a rearward trolley 2) and a branch track B. branching from the main track M at a transfer region, means 23, 32, 33 actuatable by a a carrier in the transfer region taking the branch track but not by one taking the main track cause movement of a dogoperating member 20 to displace a respective dog 6 on that carrier between an inoperative position as shown and an operative position in which the dog is engageable by a pusher 4. The carrier is driven along the main track M by a main driving dog (not shown) provided on its forward trolley but when this forward trolley enters the branch track B its main dog passes out of the path of the pushers 4, while the trolley contacts a limit switch 32 to operate a solenoid valve 33 thus activating a piston and cylinder device 23 which via linkage 25, 26 causes a platform 20 constituting the dog-operating member to move vertically upwards. This raises dog 6 which acts as a supplementary driving dog when engaged by a pusher 4 to propel the carrier further into the branch track B until its main driving dog can be engaged by another drive chain CB. The means 23, 32, 33 may be replaced by further linkage (35), Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), a lever (37) of which may be physically engaged by the forward trolley when entering the branch track.
