Abstract
1,245,603. Reciprocating pumps. HASKEL ENG & SUPPLY CO. Dec.13, 1968 [Dec.13, 1967], No.59434/68. Headings F1A, F1N and F1S. A reciprocating hydraulic or air pump is actuated by an air or liquid pressure operated piston 116, additional manually operated means 74 being provided. The pump comprises a cylinder 152 in which the piston 136 reciprocates and is provided with inlet and outlet check valves Fig.1 (not shown). The actuating piston 116 reciprocates in the cylinder 102 and has a bore 130 through which passes the stem 40 which is connected to the pump piston 136. Reciprocation of the piston 116 is controlled by a shuttle valve 224 Fig.3 which in one position allows fluid from channel 254 to flow to channel 252 forcing the piston 116 down; the O-ring 39 on stem 40 comes down until the air on the right of the shuttle valve is exhausted upwards through the bore 22; the shuttle valve is then shifted to the right (i.e. the dotted line position) and the channel 252 is now exposed to atmosphere, hence the air piston 116 is brought back by the spring 144 for the suction stroke and at the same time the O-ring 31 comes up to seal off the right chamber of the shuttle valve 224 and pressure acting through channel 256 causes the shuttle to be shifted to the original position.
