Abstract

1311797 Traversing mechanisms LEESONA CORP 6 March 1970 [10 March 1969] 10750/ 70 Heading D1J A traversing mechanism of the kind employing two endless belt spans 40, 42, with each belt moving in a direction opposite to the other, and with each belt carrying yarn engaging fingers 68, is characterized in that the path of each belt is such that the yarn engaging means is directed in a first path as the yarn is traversed onto a first zone of said package, and said yarn engaging means is directed in a second path diverging from said first path as the yarn is directed onto a second zone of the package, one of said paths being substantially parallel to the axis of the package and the other of said paths being inclined relative to the axis of said package. As shown in Fig. 2 the belt span 40 is guided first by wheels 45, 70 that maintain the belt 40 parallel to the package axis, and then by wheels 70, 46 that direct the belt 40 away from the package axis. The yarn Y is then taken up by a finger on the other belt 42, the belt 42 being guided first by wheels 50, 72 that maintain the belt 42 parallel to the package axis, and then by wheels 72, 49 that direct the belt 42 away from the package axis. The belts 40, 42 are preferably toothed belts. The apparatus includes many of the features disclosed in Specification No. 1,269,532.
