Abstract
1311252 Condensing carded webs SANT ANDREA NOVARA OFFICINE MECCANICHE E FONDERIE SpA 12 May 1971 [10 Feb 1971] 14555/71 Heading D1N A web A emerging from a carding engine is drawn through an annular condensing funnel 8 to form a hollow sliver A' which is further condensed in a funnel 10 before being fed via calender rolls 12, 13, 14 to a spinning frame (not shown). The core 8b of the condenser 8 is connected to the outer ring by a connecting rib 8c. The condenser 8 may be rotated to any position in its mounting to locate the rib 8c where desired. The support for the condensers and calender rolls is movable traversely on guides 22 by means of a rack 22a, Fig. 1. Rollers 12, 13 and 14 are geared together and are elastically loaded. The web delivered by the carding engine is supported on a belt 4 against which it is pressed by a roller 5 and which it leaves via pressure rollers 6, 7.
