Abstract

1310228 Mineral-mining installations GULLICK DOBSON Ltd 13 Oct 1970 [16 Oct 1969] 50856/69 Heading E1F A mineral-mining installation comprises a mining unit having staker means that can bear down on the unit to secure it between the roof and floor of a mine working, two conveyer units, a mineral-winning machine, guide or support means for said machine and a settable roof support assembly connected by ram means to the rear of the unit, the ram means permitting of advance of the unit when the staker means is free of the roof and the roof support assembly engages the roof and vice versa. Preferably the staker means involves extensible legs 32 and a beam 34 extending the length of the unit, the conveyer units are ramp plates 22 and an endless belt or paddle conveyer, the guide or support means are pivotally connected rails adjustable in vertical planes, and the winning machine is a bi-directional-cutting machine 26. Limit switches towards the limits of travel of the machine in the mining unit so control the haulage of the machine as to appropriately reverse the direction of travel of the haulage when such reversal is required.
