Abstract

1298206 Printing apparatus NEW JERSEY MACHINE CORP 27 Nov 1969 [2 Dec 1968] 58015/69 Heading B6C An offset printing machine comprises a plate cylinder with inking means, a blanket cylinder and an impression surface which may be either a cylinder or a reciprocable planar surface and which coacts intermittently with the blanket cylinder for transfer of an ink image to an intermittently advanced web overlying the impression surface. Preferably the machine is equipped with a plate cylinder which is three times the size of the blanket cylinder, and carries either three separately inked plates or a single lithographic plate bearing three images. In either case, the images are transferred in superimposition to the blanket cylinder, and from it to the web. The blanket cylinder may be mounted on a shaft carried by a bell crank, and be tripped into and out of contact with the plate cylinder and impression cylinder by compressed air, actuated by a solenoid. The machine may be used to print labels, which are subsequently fed in web form to a cutting machine, and the advance of the web may be varied to control the spacing of successive multi-colour impressions on the web.
