Abstract

129,213. Hammond, H. E. S. Jan. 15, 1919. Double-beat valves; casings.-Relates to a screw-down valve of the double-closure kind having a two-part casing such as a, b, Fig. 1, and a screwed spindle f operating a non-rotating nut e which carries one of the two valve washers j, k. To facilitate easy access for replacing worn washers &c., the casing is constructed separable on a plane near the washer k, as shown. The nozzle a<1> is disposed so that the part a carrying it can be rotated without contacting with the other part b. An inturned flange m limits the opening movement of the valve. A supplementary screw valve q, Fig. 2, may be arranged to close the passage at r to facilitate the repairs. Fig. 4 shows a modification in which the two-part casing v, w is bolted together, as shown at y, instead of being screwed together as in the first arrangement. The top cover is also bolted on, as at x, instead of being screwed.
