Abstract

1290812 Remotely controlled fastenings AMF Inc 19 April 1971 [26 March 1970] 22582/71 Heading E2A A submersible connector for releasing a buoy on receipt of a subaqueous signal comprises a piezo-electric signal-reciever 11 which operates an electromagnet 56 to withdrawn an armature pin 53 from the path of a latch bolt 52, 53 allowing this is pivot at 19 to allow the rotation under spring pressure of a cam 44 connected through shaft 41 to a fastening head 42 which, when rotated 90‹ releases a projection 38 of a holding hook 36, 37 from a slot 43, Figs. 6 and 8. The fastener is turned to the holding position by a key T before the hook is assembled on its pivot 39. The connector includes a receiver 15 and power source 20 and is sealed within a cylinder 29. The buoy is secured at 14 so that it recovers the connector.
