Abstract

1,036,410. Sliding clasp fasteners. LIGHTNING FASTENERS Ltd. Nov. 11, 1964 [Nov. 26, 1963], No. 45955/64. Heading E2S. A slider for a sliding clasp fastener comprises a pivoted member with a locking prong which is retained in locking position with the coupling elements of the fastener by key operable means mounted on the slider. The slider consists of two parallel flanged plates 1, 2 connected by a wedge 3. A cap 4, which pivots by means of two indents on the cap engaging in cavities in a lug 13 on the plate 2, has a forked prong 7 which is urged to locking position with the coupling elements by a spring 5 acting on the cap. The prong 7 is retained in locking position by a cam 43 on a disc at the base of a cylinder 21 which is rotated by a key to bring the cam beneath the cap. Instead of a cam the locking member may consist of a bolt or striker or an eccentrically mounted cylinder. The cylinder rotates in a housing 20 connected to the plate 1 and wedge 3 and has a cover plate 23 with an indent for one end of the cap 4. A lug 14 on the plate 2 limits tilting movement of the cap. In the locking position of the cylinder a spring 41 in a recess in the housing engages a longitudinal slot 42 in the base of the cylinder.
