Abstract

1279092 Screens D M MILLETT 13 June 1969 [7 June 1968] 27160/68 Heading A4U [Also in Division B6] A panel element 3 as shown in Fig. 1 for use in the production of decorative screens or wall or ceiling coverings is of square shape, each edge being stepped back as shown at 4, and is provided with a central aperture 5. One face of the element may be provided with a continuous channel. The element may be of plastics or plaster. As shown in Fig. 2 a series of such elements are assembled with an outwardly stepped part of one element overlapping or underlapping a correspondingly outwardly stepped part of an adjacent element. An open-work structure is thereby provided by elongated apertures 9 defined by the stepped back parts of each edge and also the apertures 5 in the elements. The elements may be connected by means of apertures 8 provided at each corner. If these are through apertures, connected may be effected with screw fasteners e.g. bookbinder's screws. Alternatively apertures 8 may be provided on one face only intersecting slots 11 provided at each corner, and with the elements assembled such that the apertures 8 face each other connection effected by inserting a nylon stud having enlarged ends provided with a transverse slot, Fig. 4 (not shown).
