Abstract

1276064 Lampholders BERKEY COLORTRAN MFG Inc 5 Feb 1970 [7 July 1969] 5588/70 Heading H2E A socket for a lamp having two adjacent contact posts 16, 18, comprises a housing 58 containing two insulating, movable opposing clamp members 40, 42 each retaining two contact elements 28, 32, which may be of copper, and 30, 34 in recesses (44, Fig. 7, not shown), operation of a cam 108 acting through a pressure plate 94, springs 82, 84 and clamp member 42 forcing said contact elements together to firmly grip said posts (as shown). Wires 158 each have a terminal (162) at one end, one of which is screwed to element 28 and linked via a bracket (166) to element 30, the other being similarly connected to elements 32, 34. Bolts 56, together with extended nuts 96, 98 act as sliding guides in apertures of both clamps and the pressure plate. Further apertures (180, 182) may be provided in the housing for slidably mounting the socket in a spot-lamp or the socket may be mounted by screws. An extension (190, Fig. 9, not shown), permits remote operation of the clamp system.
