Abstract
1354604 Electric couplings REYROLLE PARSONS Ltd 11 May 1971 14257/71 Addition to 1238294 Heading H2E Two tubular aluminium bus-bars 10, 11, supported in a steel tube 12, are electrically connected by means of an expansible clamping device 20, an aluminium block 17, and welded between them flexible conductors 15, 16. The clamping device comprises two metal blocks 18, 19, between which is located a jacking screw 21 which can force the blocks apart into clamping engagement with opposite sides of the bore in bus-bar 11. The block 17 is welded to the inside of bus-bar 10 and buttons 13, 14 of insulating plastics material are mounted on the outsides of the ends of bus-bars 10, 11. Holes 25, 26 in bus-bar 11 and the tube 12, respectively permit the insertion of a tool to turn the screw 21. In another embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) a bus-bar 10 is supported in a tube 12 and the device 20 clamps directly against the bore of the tube. The other end of the tube may similarly support a second bus-bar or it may be secured to an insulating part.
