Abstract
1,263,449. Forming selvedges in shuttleless looms. VSESOJUZNY NAUCHNO - ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT LEGKOGO I TEXTILNOGO MASHINOSTROENIA. 17 July, 1970 [22 July, 1969], No. 34675/70. Heading D1E. A mechanism for forming a tucked-in selvedge on a shuttleless loom, e.g. an air jet loom, comprises an element 19, Fig. 2, located at the selvedge side of the fabric to hold the end of a weft thread beaten up by the seed and a weft-end locator 1 secured on a swivel pin 10 and which enters the shed to take up the end of the weft thread and tuck it in as it withdraws from the shed, the locator 1 being caused to swivel in its mounting 10 by a connection 7, 9 to the sley. The swivel pin 10 is mounted on a member 11 adjustably fixed to a stationary part 13 of the loom and the member 1 comprises a hook-shaped suction tube to which suction is applied through a suction pipe 15, the end of the hook 1 being bevelled to facilitate its penetration into the shed. The holding member 19 may be a sponge rubber block or a fork-shaped member.
