Abstract

126,265. Miller, J., and Fletcher & Co., G. Feb. 13, 1919. Filter-presses.-Means for applying a preliminary closing pressure to the plates of a filterpress are pivoted on the means for applying a final pressure, so that they can be swung readily into and out of position. As shown, the preliminary pressure is applied to the follower 8 by means of a nut 9 on a spindle 10 hinged at the rear to a. hydraulic plunger by means of a pivotal bolt carrying counterweighted operating levers at either end. The spindle 10 can thus be thrown into a vertical position as shown bv dotted lines. The final pressure is applied by means of the hydraulic plunger. Mechanical means may be substituted for the hydraulic ram and cylinder.
