Abstract

1,261,448. Tobacco-smoke filter manufacture. MOLINS MACHINE CO. Ltd. and E. S. DOERMAN. 13 Feb., 1970 [26 Feb., 1969], No. 10352/69. Heading A2C. In an apparatus, for manufacturing a composite mouthpiece rod, two types of plugs 5, 6 or components are fed through guide tubes 7, 8 to rotary feeders 9, 10 which transfer them to two rotary depositors 1, 2, counter rotating in a common plane, that release one of each type of plug 5, 6 alternately onto a moving band 3. The plugs 5, 6 are held to the periphery of the depositers 1, 2 and the feeders 9, 10 by suction in known manner. Suction, applied through two lines of slots 12, 13 that converge into a single line of slots 14 which underlie the band 3 which is pervious, cause the plugs 5, 6 to merge into a single line on the band 3. This apparatus may replace the disc-pusher plug-feeding mechanism of the filter-making machine of Specification 971,491.
