A supporting framework for a suspended ceiling comprises a plurality of C-shaped members each of which has one flat surface 2 to which panels may be fixed and each of which is suspended from a building element 6 by a locking member 10 comprising a flat plate 14 which jams into position so as to lie at right angles to the longitudinal axis of each C- shaped member. The body part of each locking member is curved and provided with a hook shaped lug 11.
