Abstract

124,725. Day, G. E. March 15, 1918, [Convention date]. Rolling. - A driving mechanism for a number of stands of alined rolls is constructed so that a single motor 35 drives, through gear wheels at 30, 31, 32, pinions 23 in housings 16 at each end of the rolls 10, 11, 12, 13, and in alinement with the rolls. The rolls at the various levels are coupled together by means of coupling sleeves 14 and spindles 15, and the arrangement is such owing to the double nature of the drive, that any required roll can be put out of action by uncoupling its particular mechanism, without disturbing the drive of the rolls in alinement with it on either side.
