Abstract

1,235,645. Railway vehicle undercarriages. SVENSKA A.B. BROMSREGULATOR. 17 Feb., 1970, No. 7455/70. Heading B7L. [Also in Division F2] A railway vehicle disc brake rigging includes a pneumatic cylinder-piston unit 1 actuable on two pairs of caliper brake levers, each pair comprising a live lever 12 and a dead lever 13 ; each pair of caliper brake levers 12, 13 is arranged to act through a pair of yokes 17, 18 and each yoke 17 (or 18) carries two brake pads 19, the four brake pads 19 of the pair of yokes 17, 18 are respectively applied to the brake surfaces of four brake discs 20; the discs 20 are in pairs each pair being secured to a respective axle of two parallel axles 22 of the vehicle; and each pair of caliper brake levers 12, 13 is disposed substantially in vertical plane parallel to the axles 22. One pair of caliper brake levers 12, 13 is actuated by the piston cylinder unit 1 via a live brake lever 4, and the other pair 12, 13 is actuated via a dead brake lever 5. The bogie frame 23 carries part of the weight of the vehicle through rubber block shock absorbers 24, at one of which is mounted a device 25 responsive to vehicle load and connected to a system adapted to vary the braking force to suit the vehicle load.
