958,104. Fluid-pressure railway vehicle brakes. SVENSKA A.G. BROMSREGULATOR. Feb. 15, 1963, No. 6271/63. Headings F2E and F2F. In an air brake apparatus for individual wheel pairs of railway vehicles having a separate brake cylinder 1 and associated brake rigging for transmitting braking power to brake shoes 12 formed at both ends of a pair of substantially parallel brake beams 11 which extend transversely of the vehicle on opposite sides of the wheel pair W, a pair of equalizing brake levers are formed by a " live " brake lever 6 and a " dead " brake lever 7 with a tie rod 8 connecting them at points between their ends and short brake pull rods 15 connect the midpoints of the brake beams to one end of the " live " and " dead " brake levers, the other end of the latter levers being pivoted to the brake cylinder push rod 2 and to the body of the brake cylinder at pivots 3 respectively. Upon operation of the brake cylinder 1 the push rod 2 is actuated and the brake cylinder oscillates about its pivots 3 to actuate the equalizing brake levers 6 and 7 and move the brake beams 11 and shoes 12 towards the wheel pairs W to engage the brake. The pivotal connection 3 also serves to mount the brake cylinder on the underframe of the vehicle. The brake cylinder 1 may be provided with a built-in automatic brake slack adjuster between the brake piston and the projecting push rod 2.
