Abstract

1,235,586. Coating apparatus. P. HAMMELMANN. 8 May, 1969 [20 May, 1968], No. 23475/69. Heading B2L. Apparatus for cleaning and applying preserving material to surfaces of storage tanks, gasometers, ships' hulls, &c, is movable over the surface to be treated and having at the front a device 1 for spraying cleaning water 6, and housings 15, 16, 17, adapted to be evacuated and containing, respectively, a device 45 for drying the cleaned surface e.g. an infra red radiator, a device 47 for applying preserving material and a drying device 46, and a further drying device 48. Further similarly equipped housings 18, 19, 20 (Fig. 2, not shown) and a further water spraying device 1 are provided at the rear of the apparatus so that the apparatus is operable when moving forwards and backwards. The apparatus is moved over the surface to be treated by motor driven endless belts which engage sealing members 21, 49 (Fig. 3, not shown) at the sides of the housings, so that when suction is applied to the housings by an ejector device operated by water under pressure, the apparatus is held by the suction against the surface to be treated.
