1,228,425. Electromagnetic relays. K. E. JARNBRINK, P. H. E. CLAESSON, and R. A. ZANDER. 23 April, 1968 [3 May, 1967; 31 Jan., 1968], No. 19217/68. Heading H1N. The electromagnet of a relay has its armature 7 pivoted at one end thereof in relation to a stationary part 3 of the magnetic circuit and the armature 7 is surrounded by a coil 2 and dimensioned so that its cross-sectional area divided by the area of the loop formed by the stationary magnetic part and the armature is greater than 0À1 and preferably between 0À2 and 1. The ratio of the thickness to the width of the armature is greater than 0À2 and preferably between 0À35 and 0À5. The armature engages a contact operatingcard 107 which engages the movable contact springs 28, 38, 33 of changeover contact sets, the projections of the card which engages the springs being as close as possible to the contacts. Fig. 7 shows the method of mounting the stationary part 3 of the magnetic circuit on a coil bobbin which is integral with a plastics mounting bracket 1 of the relay.
