[Also in Divisions G3 and G41 A device for selectively mixing or maintaining separate two rectangular jets of fluid comprises a modification of Figure 8 in which the fluids, flowing in passages 214, 216, come from separate sources. The pressure within duct 220 is altered by opening or closing port 218. With port 218 closed and ports 244, 246 open, the jets coalesce and enter duct 224 to discharge at 210. With the port closures reversed, Figure 10 (not shown), the jets attach to the walls of ducts 200 and discharge via passages 226, 228 to separate outlets. In another device, Figure 11, the two jets pass to outputs O 1 - O 3 under the control of valves C 1 - C 3 . As shown, the walls bounding O 1 split the jets, but they may be adjusted transversely so that they do not split them. By selective closure of the valves the jets coalesce and exit at O 1 , O 2 , or O 3 , Figs. 12, 13, 16 (not shown), or the jets remain separated and may be attached to the adjacent walls, Figs. 14, 15, 17 (not shown).
