Abstract

1,225,774. Turning articles over on endless conveyers. RYEMOR ENG. Ltd. 20 May, 1968 [25 May, 1967], No. 24390/67. Heading B8A. A mechanism for turning over relatively flat articles being advanced by a conveyer, includes means 5 for lifting the front of each article upwardly, when it reaches a predetermined point, so that it pivots about its rear edge resting upon the conveyer, and means 6 for engaging the rear edge to prevent sliding movement of the article in a direction opposite to the direction of motion of the conveyer, support means 15 being provided for receiving the article when it overbalances about its rear edge, the lifting means 5 thereafter being lowered to control forward sliding movement of the edge (initially the rear one but now the forward one) of the article. When the leading edge of the panel reaches a trip arm 7, a pair of arms (one only visible in Fig. 1) 5 are turned anti-clockwise by the action of a fluid motor 8 operating via centrally pivoted link 13. A link 10 connected to the motor 8 causes clockwise rotation of a pair of stepped arms 6. The panel is thus turned (Fig. 4) through a vertical position to lie against a member 15 with its trailing edge (now the leading edge) resting on the raised step 6 (Fig. 5, not shown). In this position it operates a control which reverses the pressure in the motor 8. Thus the new leading edge is lowered on to the belts 1 by the member 6, and the member 5, as it drops (Fig. 6), controls the sliding forward movement of the new leading edge until the panel again -lies on the belts 1. For wide articles, the members 5, 6, may be augmented by additional members (5a), (6a) (Fig. 2, not shown).
