Abstract

122,148. Luard, E. S. Sept. 3, 1918. Clips, band.-In a clip of the type having a band tightened by a screw-bolt 3 with a guard 4 bridging the gap between the ends of the band, the guard 4 is attached to one end of the band and has flanges which embrace the other end. The band may be recessed as shown at 9, 10, so that, after tightening up the clip, its surface is practically continuous. The guard 4 is preferably attached by lugs' 7, 8 passed through apertures 7<a>, 8<a> in the strap and bent down. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, the lugs 7, 8 are bent down in the same direction and the apertures 7a, 8<a> are large enough to permit a certain amount of sliding motion between the guard and the band.
