Abstract

1,209,047. Article engaging devices. D. WICKHAM & CO. Ltd. 19 Nov., 1968 [19 Dec., 1967], No. 57678/67. Heading B8H. A clamp for attachment to a rail 11 to enable the rail to be lifted comprises abutment members 12 which abut flanges on opposite sides of the rail when cams 19 are rotated into a clamping position between the members 12, in which each cam engages the top of the rail and forces a bolt 17 interconnecting the members 12, upwardly. The bolts 17 are received in slots 18 in the members 12 and permit the pivoting shown, to release the rail when the cams are in the unclamp position, in which slotted projections (not shown) narrower than the main body 19 of the cam remain in engagement with the bolts 17 between the members 12. The abutment members 12 are pivotted at 13 to a shackle 14 associated with a lifting cable 16.
