Abstract

1,204,868. Electromagnetic relays. THERMOSEN Inc. 8 Dec., 1967 [8 Dec., 1966], No. 56045/67. Heading H1N. To prevent noise in a reed relay the movable reed contact 60 extends parallel to core 36, is made of non-magnetic material, and carries a U-shaped armature 76 one limb 79 of which extends into the air gap between a magnetic pole piece 38 and one end of an arcuate magnetic shield plate 28. A magnetic washer on the right hand end of core 36 engages the magnetic plate 28. The arcuate magnetic plate 28 is located on ledges formed in housing side walls and a saddle formed in the housing base and supports the core and winding assembly 32, 36 which is itself located by means of the engagement in slots in the side walls of ears of a member 39 interposed on the core between the pole piece 38 and winding 32. Two changeover contact sets, e.g. 60, 66, 72 are mounted in a compartment of the housing sealed by pouring epoxy resin over a cover member 82, along the edges of the magnetic plate 28 and over the exterior of the base of the housing. The compartment may be exhausted or filled with inert gas through a tube 90. An earth pin 52 is secured to magnetic plate 28. The contacts are made of a gold diffused, silver magnesium nickel, alloy. The planes of the moving reeds are inclined to the sides of the housing. A threesided snap on cover 14 completes the relay housing.
