Description
Das Schahrauschen kann inThe invention relates generally to an electromagnetic relay and, more particularly, to an encapsulated one electromagnetic reed relay. Reed relays are often used to switch low voltages is used, which is why an interfering signal noise is important, which is caused in the circuits to be switched by the Relay itself is generated. The noise can be in
The first group includes interference signals that are switched into the Circuits through the relay contacts are introduced from the outside by inductive or capacitive coupling. This can generally be achieved through use Shields are kept very small.
The second group of switching noise includes static and dynamic noise that occurs in the relay itself arises. The static noise is mainly caused by thermally generated stresses caused by the Temperature differences at bimetal transitions in the electrical contact elements of the relay and at the Connections of this contact element with the outer circle occur. The dynamic noise in Reed relays are created in principle by a »generator« effect and a magnetostrictive effect, since the moving contact blades in the relay excitation coil generated magnetic field are located and thus represent part of the relay magnetic circuit.
Another disadvantage of many known electromagnetic reed relays is that the relay contact gaps are in the magnetic field generated by the excitation coil. After a certain period of operation become microscopic particles from the contact surface and also from the tongues themselves eroded.
Schließlich können die Schalterkontakte sogar über-These particles can be magnetized by the existing magnetic field, if they are not already are themselves magnetic. Because the induction flux is concentrated at the gaps between the switch contacts is, these magnetic particles collect there. Such an accumulation changes the magnetic properties of the relay as well as the contact resistance. Finally, the switch contacts can even be

The reed relay according to the invention has as known for example from US Pat. No. 3,2,040,057 Relay became a magnetic core with a coil bypassing the core and with a magnetic pole piece attached to one end of the core, with an end plate attached to the other end of the core made of magnetic material, with at least one fixed electrical contact and with at least one resilient, electrically conductive tongue that is electrically in and out of contact with the stationary Contact can be brought, wherein the fixed contact and the tongue in a completely sealed Chamber are accommodated.
The object of the invention is to avoid as far as possible the above-mentioned difficulties and disadvantages in a relay of the type described, in particular an electromagnetic reed relay with extremely low noise compared to the known reed relays is to be specified. Furthermore, the voltage for generating static noise signals should be reduced considerably. The voltage for generating dynamic noise signals should also be reduced considerably. Furthermore, so! the reed relay should be as small as possible in order to achieve a high packing density. Furthermore, the reed relay should have short switching times, a long service life, a low and stable contact resistance and relatively high contact values. After all, the reed relay should have a simple structure and be cheap to produce.
To solve this problem, the Reiais according to the invention, in contrast to the Reiais known inter alia from the aforementioned US patent specification, is characterized in that a jacket of a magnetic material of high permeability extends parallel to and at a given distance from the magnetic core in such a way that j that in the magnetic circle from the core, the pole piece located at one end of the core, the jacket and the end plate located at the other end of the core, a gap is provided which lies between one end of the jacket and the pole piece, that the resilient (s), electrically conductive tongue (s) runs parallel to the core and thus parallel to the jacket, and that at the pole piece at the end of at least one tongue protruding beyond the jacket, a U-shaped magnetic member is attached, which engages around the end of the jacket so that a part of this U-shaped member protrudes into the gap, and forces on by the magnetic flux extending transversely through the gap this part can be exercised through which the tongue is moved. In the relay according to the invention, the movable contact tongue is arranged next to the relay magnetic circuit that it extends somewhat beyond the magnetic field generated by the excitation coil, without thereby increasing the relay size considerably. The tongue does not form part of the magnetic circuit and is therefore shielded by a flux-conducting part of the magnetic circuit. As a result, the generator and magnetostrictive effects are essentially canceled, which also leads to a considerable reduction in dynamic noise. Since the tongue does not form part of the magnetic circuit, it can be made of highly conductive metal! can be made to allow low contact resistance rather than using conductive magnetic alloys where the tongue must support one or more separate good conductive contact buttons or expensive metal platings. In this way, bimetallic junctions in the elements of the electrical relay circuit are avoided and thermally generated voltages are considerably reduced. The contact gap is located essentially outside the relay magnetic field and therefore there is little risk of particles collecting there.

In Fig. 1, a reed relay tO is shown. The relay 10 has a housing 12 made of a suitably rigid plastic material such as diallyl phthalate. The housing 12 is completed by a three-sided terminal cover 14. Various pins 16 protrude through the Bottom of the housing 14 for insertion in sockets, for example on a printed circuit board. The relay 10 can have very small dimensions, apart from the connecting pins 16 1 cm χ i cm χ 2 cm (3/16 in. Χ 3/16 in. According to FIG. 2, the housing has one-piece side walls 18, 19, a front wall 20 and a bottom wall 22. A saddle 24 and a longitudinal projection 26 extending from a point near the saddle to the front wall 20 of the housing 12 extends, wear an elongated jacket 28 made of a suitable magnetic alloy high permeability. The jacket 28 has a substantially curved cross-section with curved Side edges 28 'that rest on elongated steps 30 that are integral with housing side walls 18 and 19 are trained. The mounting of the jacket 28 in the housing 12 is best shown in FIGS. 4-7 can be seen.
The coil unit 32 rests on the elongated jacket 28, which can be seen from FIGS. 3, 4, 7 and 8 can be seen is. The bobbin 34 has a central bore 35 for receiving an elongated core 36 from a suitable one Magnetic alloy with high permeability. The core 36 has a larger annular end 38, which as Magnet pole piece is used. A rigid plastic head 39 that extends between the pole piece 38 and the core assembly 32 is located and the core 36 receives in a central hole 40, has lateral tabs 41, which in vertical grooves 42 rest, which are formed in the housing side walls 18 and 19 (Fig. 6). The relay coil is energized by two coil connection pins 48 (FIGS. 2 and 8), which pass through openings 49 in the Housing bottom 22 in vertical grooves 50 which are formed in the housing side walls 18 and 19, to connection points extend generally above coil assembly 32 for appropriate electrical connection to be able to make the free ends of the relay coil winding. A ground pin 52 protrudes through Hole 53 in the housing base 22 and extends upwards in a recess 54 in the saddle 24 (FIGS. 2, 4 and 7). The ground pin 52 is in electrical contact with the jacket 28 so that the magnetic circuit of the relay 10 is grounded. In addition, the ground pin 52 can also act as a key pin to prevent mis-insertion of the relay prevented into a socket.
According to FIGS. 2 and 3, vertical tongue connection pins run 56 into the housing 12 through holes 57 in the bottom 22. The upper ends of the connection socket 56 carry projecting tongues 60 which run horizontally under the jacket 28 in channels 62. The tongues 60 are preferably integral extensions of the tongue pins 56 through the round rod material the connecting pins are flattened to give the necessary flexibility. As best seen in Fig. 5 and 6 As can be seen, the tongues 60 are shaped so that they lie in a plane which is about 30 ° from the horizontal is inclined to prevent contact with the jacket 28 when the tongues are deflected.
According to FIG. 3 connecting pins 64 jump into the interior of the housing 12 through holes 65 in the housing base 22. The upper end of the connector pins 64 is bent at right angles to extend a short distance horizontally under the tongues 60. The end this horizontal extension is formed into solid isolating contacts 66, normally in electrical Make contact with your tongues.
Terminal pins 70 extend into the interior of the housing 20 through holes 71 in the housing base 22. The upper The end of the connecting pins 70 is hook-shaped so that they extend around the free end of the tongues 60, to give solid closing contacts 72 overlying the free end of the tongues.
To the tongues 60 from the normal electrical contact with the fixed isolating contacts 66 in electrical Sliding contact with the fixed make contacts 72 is a U-shaped tongue plate member 76 attached at its leg 77 to the surface of each tongue 60. The base 78 of each tongue plate 76 runs radially inward, limits the left end of the jacket 28 (Figure 3) and carries a one-piece Leg 79 which extends horizontally into a gap 46 between the pole piece 38 and the inner edge of the jacket 28 extends at its left end. The tongue plate 76 is made of a suitable magnetic alloy high Permeability.
(Fig.3 und 4).
ist, wieder mit einem geeigneten Schutzgas durch dasAccording to FIG. 4, the magnetic circuit for the relay 10 includes the pole piece 38, the core 36, the end plate 44, the jacket 28, the gap 46 and the legs 79 of the tongue plates 76 which are located in the gap 46. Because of the relative dimensions of the outer surface of the pole piece 38, the tongue plate legs 79 and the inner peripheral surface of the jacket 28 at its left end, according to FIG. 5 gaps 46 'between these tongue plate legs and the pole piece have a smaller area than gaps 46 "between the tongue plate legs and the jacket Tongue plates 76 tightened to pole piece 38. This releases the tongues 60 from electrical contact with the fixed isolating contacts 66 and comes into electrical contact with the fixed closing contacts 72. This is the case because the force between the poles, which are separated by a non-magnetic gap, is indirectly proportional to the cross-sectional area of the gap is. Since the gaps 46 'have a smaller area than the gaps 46 ", forces are inevitably generated which move the tongue plates 76 towards the pole piece 38. The movement of the tongues is stopped by being applied to the fixed closing contacts 72, so that the tongue plates 76 contact the pole piece 38. Similarly, when released, the tongues abut the fixed isolating contacts 66 before the tongue plate can touch the jacket 28.
A cover 82 (FIG. 2) is located in the housing 12, its rear edge resting on the upper edge of the head 39 and its front edge resting on a step 83 integrally connected to the housing front wall 20 (FIGS. 3 and 4). The side edges of the lid 82 are curved outwardly to rest on steps 84 which are integral with the housing side walls 18 and 19 (Figs. 2 and 5). An epoxy material (not shown) is potted on top 82 and head 39 and along the edges of shell 28 to hold and seal these parts. In addition, epoxy material 85 is cast on the bottom surface of the housing base 22 in order to hermetically seal the various entry points into the housing 12 for the connection pins. In this way, a hermetically sealed partial space is created which has the tongue channels 62 and a second chamber 88 in which the tongue plates 79 and the fixed closing contacts 72 are arranged. According to FIG. 3, 7 and 8, a metal tube 90 is inserted lengthwise through the saddle 24 on the housing base 22 in order to evacuate the channels 62 and the contact chamber 88. Once this has been done, the outer end of the tube 90 is pinched off, leaving a non-corrosive atmosphere in which the individual relay contacts can operate. In addition, corrosive gases, dirt and other contaminants are prevented from entering the contact chamber 88 and the tongue channels 62 during operation of the relay 10. If desired, this room, as soon as it has been evacuated, can be passed through the again with a suitable protective gas
so Rohr 90 aufgefüllt werden, bevor sein Außenende abgequetscht wird.so pipe 90 must be filled before its outer end is pinched off.
Zusammenfassungsummary
From the preceding description it can be seen that that the invention provides a reed relay with extremely low noise. Measurements indicate that the dynamic noise is about 3 μν from tip to tip, which is a considerable reduction in that present in the known reed relays Represents values. Complete avoidance of dynamic noise is among the present Conditions where the contact tongues 60 are in close proximity to the relay coil, however not possible. While the shield 28 essentially shields the tabs 60, some inevitable occurs disturbing magnetic field on the tongues.
When the tongues 60 and the fixed contacts 66 and 72 are made from a metal similar to a gold diff
Infolge dieser extrem niedrigen Rauschwerte ist das Relais gemäß der Erfindung besonders gut für genaue Analogschaltsysteme einschließlich Hochgeschwindigkeitsabtastern geeignet. well-founded silver-magnesium-nickel alloy were thermally generated stresses caused by the The heat generated by the relay coil is less than 4 μν measured. The cause of this is thermal The stresses generated have not yet been established, but it is believed that they are largely originate from the contact transition between the connecting pins 16 and the outer circle. Regardless of these noise values are considerably smaller than those that occur with known reed relays. As a result of this With extremely low noise levels, the relay according to the invention is particularly good for precise analog switching systems including high speed scanners.
Noise is. Since relatively large masses are very good contact materials are used to manufacture the tongues 60, an increased contact switching reliability and capacity reached.
It can be seen that the arrangement of the tongues 60 is substantially concurrent with the coil unit 32 the length of the relay 10 is reduced considerably. Practically, the total length of the relay becomes largely determined by the length of the coil unit plus the pole piece. This is where the relay differs according to of the invention of a known relay (see US Pat. No. 3,274,524 to Magida et al), where the overall length essentially determined by the length of the coil unit and the pole piece plus the tongue length will.
Although two sets of tabs and fixed contacts have been described, it will be apparent that the invention can also be used for more or less sentences.
