Abstract

1,201,621. 621. Stabilizing developed photographic silver halide materials. GEWAERT - AGFA N. V. May 13, 1968 [May 18, 1967], No.23050/67. Heading G2C. Developed photographic silver halide materials are stabilized by treatment with a thiocyanate stabilizing composition in the presence of at least one thioxo compound of the formula: - where Z completes a 5- or 6- membered heterocyclic ring which may form part of a fused ring system, the said thioxo compound having at least one sulpho group in acid or salt form. The thioxo compound may be present in the silver halide material or in the stablizing composition. The silver halide material may contain the developing agent and be developed by treatment with an aqueous alkaline solution and then stabilized by treatment with the stabilizing composition. When a very high degree of stabilization is required, the stabilization treatment may be followed by a short water rinse.
