Abstract
1,200,707. Fusible cut-outs. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC CORP. 17 July, 1968 [24 Aug., 1967], No. 34072/68. Heading H2G. The subject-matter of this Specification is substantially the same as that described in Specification 1,200,702, but the claims are concerned with the provision of weakenings in one or more of the blocks of arc-extinguishing material so that the parts so weakened fracture under heavy arcing conditions thus decreasing the pressure of gsaes evolved and increasing the space in which arcing is taking place. Instead of the weakening recess (129, Fig. 2, not shown), described in Specification 1,200,702, grooves 131 may be provided in the blocks 135, 137 so that the walls weakened by the grooves will break up under intense arcing conditions, the arcing then producing arc-extinguishing gases from the generally tubular C-section member 133 which is made of stronger material such as polyoxymethylene.
