Abstract

1,196,343. Waste heat boilers. SPANNER BOILERS Ltd. 20 Dec., 1968 [19 Jan., 1968], No. 2944/68. Headings F4A and F4S. In a wate-heat boiler wherein heating-gases flow through tubes b extending through the boiler shell e between gas inlet and outlet headers f and g, and wherein a by-pass tube h also extends between the headers, the proportion of gases directed through the by-pass tube is regulated by a sleeve valve j located at one end of the by-pass tube and rotatable on an axis extending at right angles to that of the by-pass tube. The valve shown is mounted on spindles n and is rotatable, e.g. by a hand wheel p or a motor so as to bring an aperture k in the valve wall more or less into alignment with the by-pass tube h. Hence, hot gases entering the boiler through a port l at the end of the sleeve valve, exit from the valve through the aperture k and flow therefrom into the by-pass tube and/or into the tubes b.
