Abstract

928,097. Hot-water boilers. SPANNER BOILERS Ltd. April 3, 1962 [April 4, 1961], No. 11898/61. Class 64 (1). In a water heater comprising a horizontal shell and a furnace tube a water circulation tube of smaller diameter than that of the furnace tube is arranged so as to pass transversely through the furnace tube, said circulation tube being in communication at both ends thereof with the water chamber, a water inlet pipe being arranged to project within the upper end of the circulation tube so that the flow of cold water from the inlet pipe will induce a flow of hot water through the annulus formed between the upper end of the circulation tube and the inlet pipe. In the form shown a circulation tube 16 is fitted to a single pass return flow horizontal hot water boiler with a shell 10, furnace tube 11 and fire tube 12. An outlet flow pipe 17 leads to a space heater or storage tank 18 from which an inlet pipe 19 returns to the boiler passing through the shell and water chamber 15 to terminate within the upper end of the circulation tube 16.
