Abstract

1,247,047. Tubular heat exchangers; concentric-tube elements. W. ROSENLEW & CO. A.B. 25 Oct., 1968 [27 Oct., 1967], No. 50681/68. Heading F4S. In a casing 1 of a heat exchanger are disposed concentric-tube units each consisting of an outer tube 8 extending between headers 2, 3 and an inner tube 9 communicating via inlet and outlet openings 10, 11 in wall of the outer tube 9 with the casing interior. In use a fluid to be heated is passed from header 2 through tubes 8 of the units to header 3 and is heated by steam flowing around the tubes 8 and through the inner tubes 9 of the units. The stream enters the casing through an inlet 13 and is directed by a baffle 1a towards one end of the casing where some of the steam enters the tubes 9 via openings 10 whilst the remainder flows around the tubes 1. Condensate from the steam is withdrawn at 14.
