Abstract

1,193,363. Air cushions. INTERLAKE STEEL CORP. 26 Aug., 1968, No. 40773/68. Heading A4M. [Also in Divisions B7 and B8] A dunnage device comprises a flat inflatable bladder 2 having a valve 4 in one wall and reinforcing means 7 on the other wall opposite to the valve, a reinforcing envelope 3 containing the bladder. The bladder is formed from a flattened tube with sealed ends and is inserted in a reinforcing tube 3, the ends of the two tubes being secured by closures 5, (12) over rods 6, (11). Valve 4 has a base 9 sealed to the inner surface of the bladder and a portion which extends through a grommet 4c. Reinforcing patch 7 is adhered to the inner surface of the bladder and prevents damage to the portion of the bladder opposite the valve on inflation. The bladder comprises polyethylene and tube 3 is formed of a plurality of paper plies, the outer ply being waterproofed with polyethylene.
