Abstract

1,191,556. Rotating piston engine construction. N. RODNIGHT. June 20, 1968, No.29544/68. Heading F1B. In a two-stroke I.C, engine, e.g. a twin cylinder engine having a common piston P, each cylinder has its combustion chamber formed entirely in the respective piston crown by a cavity C therein arranged at one side of the piston and communicating with an opening in the side wall of the piston. The piston is connected to a crankshaft via a crank-pin K and a part-spherical member J slidingly engaged over the crank-pin, so as to move with oscillatory and reciprocatory motion and thereby control the opening and closing of inlet, exhaust and scavenge ports in the cylinder wall. A spark plug or fuel injector is positioned at F for each cylinder.
