Abstract

543,359. Two - stroke engines ; valves. WEIGEL, D. M. May 2, 1940, No. 7932. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (vi)] Combustible mixture compressed between the piston 29 and cylinder-closure 22 passes through ports 4], 42 to a cooler 43, and thence to a combustion chamber 44 formed by a recess in the wall of the sleeve-valve 17. The chamber 44 communicates alternately with the cooler through the conduit 48 and with the expansion chamber above the piston 29. Ignition occurs when the port 49 uncovers the plug 51. The exhaust valve 36 in the cylinder head and the sleeve-valve are actuated from the gear-driven shaft 16.
