Abstract

1,186,235. Shuttleless looms. R. B. GOLOBART. 18 July, 1967 [26 Aug., 1966], No. 32878/67. Heading D1E In a shuttleless loom in which weft is inserted by an arm, rod or flexible band drawing the yarn from a stationary bobbin at one side of the loom and picking it through the shed to the opposite side, means are provided for gripping and cutting the inserted weft and then removing the cut end, comprising a pair of jaws 12, 14, a suction tube 16 and a rotary cutter 51. The upper jaw 14 of the pair is carried by a pivoted arm 20 spring-pressed against a stop screw 25 by a spring 22. The lower jaw 12 is carried together with suction tube 16 by a pivoted arm 19 which is actuated through a rod 38 by a cam 33 on a rotary shaft 35 of the loom. As the weft 48 is picked it is sucked into tube 16 and then gripped by upward movement of the lower jaw 12. Continued upward movement of both jaws against spring 22 brings the weft into contact with the cutter 51 whereby the weft end is severed close to the fabric 54. On subsequent downward movement of the jaws and opening thereof the weft end is released to be sucked into the tube 16.
